Bandera Gone With the Wind

I still remember what a certain Svidomite troll on my old blog, Austere Insomniac, said of the church of Dmitry Sydor. Dmitry Sydor was an Orthodox priest, and a Carpatho-Rusyn activist, and his church was struck by lightning which toppled the cross upon the dome of the church. He interpreted it as a sign of God’s displeasure…

Dmitry Sydor was then persecuted for separatism, that was still under the presumably pro-Russian Yanukovych, and allegations were made against him that he received money from the Russian World Fund. Meanwhile though, Western funds, Soros and others were operating freely and several years later, the people on Western payroll ousted Yanukovych. This is to remind anyone who thinks that Russia should have engaged in buying influence in Ukraine the way West did. Russia did not have an even playing field in Ukraine. Besides, going against the collective West in the game of buying influence was a losing proposition from the beginning.

But weather signs have been rich this winter, strong winds have destroyed a supersized portrait of Stepan Bandera in Ternopol, Halychyna, Ukraine.

The gods hate Bandera too, not just Poles, Russians, and Belarusians, and just about anyone in Ukraine and around it. Even more ominous image has been generated on the other side of the country, in Kharkov.

The wind has split in two the national flag of Ukraine. Funny that the Ukrainian flag is associated with the homeland of Bandera and contains in it the colours from the coat of arms of Lvov, that is a golden lion on an azure field. A variant of this flag was given to the people of Halychyna by Empress Sophie as a thank you for help in suppressing the Hungarian revolt. Emperor Franz Joseph called them Tyrolleans of the East.

The Tyrolleans were the epitome of loyalty in Austria because they stood loyal to the Habsburgs when Napoleon invaded. The Ukrainian flag was introduced to Russian Ukraine by Sichovi Striltsy, a group formed of Ukrainian nationalists that was originally part of the Austrian army.

There Weren’t any Ukrainians Before the Break up of Austria in 1918

Let me continue the topic [see here] of Ukrainians not existing before the Great War. I have recently uploaded a short video featuring an unknown, West Ukrainian, elderly gentleman, which I titled in Russian There weren’t any Ukrainian under the Kaiser (the Austrian Emperor). Let’s check out the contents, here is a transcript.

The interviewer:

Tell us, during the Austrian rule, did your parents consider themselves to be Ukrainians?

The interviewee:

We Ukrainians did not exist back then during the Austrian rule. Back then, the official nomenclature was “Ruthenians”, and otherwise the name was “Rusyns”. And we all called each other “Rusyns”. And only after 1918, when Austria broke up, we began calling ourselves Ukrainians. Until then it was considered that we were all Rusyns.

Bathory under Pskov. Antonio Possevino in black.

Rusyny or Rusyns, as I anglicise it, is a term that means a man of Rus’, a Russian. Before suffering a rebranding in the twentieth century, the ancestors of the Ukrainians were known as Rusyns in what is now Western Ukraine, and as Malorossy (Little Russians) in Ukraine proper. To my knowledge, the first person that suggested there is a separate ethnic identity called Ukrainians was, to my knowledge, the historian, Nikolay (Ukrainian: Mykola) Kostomarov, who wrote the essay Две русския народности (two Russian ethnicities). The term was used in the early modern period to denote the Polish gentry (I may be descended of those according to a family legend) and Cossacks in Central Dnieper area. A video on my channel by Mikhail Onufrienko says that the Poles began referring to the entire area of South-Western Rus’ as “Ukraine” (borderland) at the suggestion of Papal Legate, Antonio Possevino, to divide the lands of Rus’. However, this was not accepted by the people.

The Readers should know that in the nineteenth century, the area known as Ukraine was much more limited and there did not exist an ethnicity called Ukrainians. Also, when Taras Shevchenko mentions Ukraine in his poems, it is the Ukraine you see above that he mentions.

The most important point to take away from this is that Ukraine is an ahistorical entity. Ukraine’s statehood begins in the time of the Great War, 1917 more precisely, when the first entity named Ukraine was formed, following the February Revolution. Ukraine’s legitimacy is based on a peasant vernacular codified into the Ukrainian language, a mixture of Polish and Old Russian, and perhaps some historical geography, where the Ukrainian nation is said to live in the territories that belonged to Poland before the division of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the late eighteenth century + areas settled by the Russian Empire in nineteenth century along the Black Sea coast with populations originating from these formerly Polish territories. The detail one needs to remember is that the peasant vernacular was never the language of the cities. Cities in the East and South of Ukraine were established by the Russian tsars and were consequently Russian speaking, and cities in the West of Ukraine were Polish speaking. Lvov was a Polish city until World War II.

The latter is where the stereotype of Ukrainian being a language of country bumpkins comes from. The Svidomite Ukrainians find this offensive, and another thing they find offensive is their old ethnonym “Maloross”, Little or Lesser Russian. They show their rural ignorance here as well because Maloross was an ecclesiastical designation. In the Greek understanding, Little referred to Greece Proper and Greater to the colonies. In Poland, the Greater Poland meant the center, and Lesser Poland meant the province. The only reason why the Ukrainian nationalists chose the name Ukraine for the new nation they sought to create is that it lacks any connection to Russia. However once they severed the connection to Russia, they need a new narrative to explain their existence. Let’s see how they cope?

As a trained historian, I would suggest to them to explore the linguistic origins of the Ukrainian language, and tie its origins to the history of occupation of Western Russia by foreigners. Then continue with a discussion of the Ukrainian movement in the nineteenth and twentieth century, what motivated it, what were the ideas surrounding it? The ethnogenesis of Ukrainians is hiding in these processes. But that is not what the Svidomites are doing. Instead they lie to children:

Rus-Ukraine the first Ukrainian state

They lie to children about the Old Rus’ being the first Ukrainian state, and they included Staraya Ladoga and Novgorod in it. What they do not realise that the Old Rus’ has its origins in the north, around Staraya Ladoga, and it was began by Swedish Vikings called Varangians in the east. The Primary Chronicle of Nestor tells us that these Vikings were invited by the Slavic tribes in the south, therefore Rus’ originated in the north and came to the territory of contemporary Ukraine from the north, not the other way around. The christianiser of Rus’, St. Vladimir, spent youth in Norway, and then came to Kiev from Novgorod. The Svidomite mythologisers create a fictitious called Rus’-Ukraine. Old Rus’ was really one of the first state formations on the territory of Ukraine (although that was only the Central and Western Ukraine of today, the Black Sea coast was controlled by Kipchak nomads) but it was not a Ukrainian state. Was it a Russian state? Yes, and the Russian Federation is its direct descendant, while the Ukraine is a mutinous province without historical statehood to derive its origins from.

Recently Alexey Arestovych suggested Ukraine rename itself into Rus-Ukraine, or Ukraina-Rus. To which Volodymyr Vyatrovych replied that putting Rus with Ukraine would just come out to foreigners as Ukraine and Russia. That is because Rus is Russia, and Ukraine is part of Russia. The debate on whether Ukraine is Russia or not are still raging today.

To illustrate how much the Ukrainian officialdom is in the grips of myths and lies about history, check out this initiative by the Lvov and Kiev city councils. Not so long ago, they decided to rename the Russian Federation into Moscovia, believing that Peter the Great renamed Moscovia into Russian Empire in 1721. What actually happened in 1721 is that Peter the Great assumed the title of All-Russian Emperor, and thus the Russian Empire was born. Previously, Russia’s rulers held the title Tsar of All Russia, and before that Grand Duke of All Russia.

Moscovia, from which comes the English word, Muscovy, was a designation employed particularly in Poland and Lithuania that ruled over part of Russia, and laid claim to the entirety of Russia. The Kiev and Lvov representatives must think that if Ukraine was unfortunately named by the Poles, then Greater Russia, or what is now the Russian Federation must suffer the same kind of rebranding.

To wrap up, every Ukrainian is at the same time a Russian because his ancestors were Russians. Ukrainians are defined purely on their language, which is a local patois of Old Russian and Polish. Maybe this is why the government there is so hostile against the Russian language.

If Democracy in Ukraine was a Threat to Putin, He Would Have Taken it out Already

Just a little thought. Western analysts are often repeating that Putin is afraid of the democracy in Ukraine. However, we do not see an effort on the part of Russia to have a regime change in Ukraine. Yanukovych got removed in a coup in 2014 because Russia failed to give him the adequate help. The security forces were paralysed. In fact, maybe this is the cleaver part of the game. Ukraine’s democracy is something really comical and self destructive. It is actually not a democracy but an oligarchy, something Russia had progressed from. It makes democracy look bad in the eyes of anyone sensible, which cannot be said about the Western commentariat.

Polyakov Forced to Sell his Stake in Firefly Aerospace

From Bloomberg:

The U.S. government has requested that Max Polyakov, a wealthy Ukrainian tech entrepreneur, sell his stake in the rocket company Firefly Aerospace Inc., citing national security concerns.

Firefly, a private rocket maker based near Austin, Texas, has been backed for several years by Polyakov, who built a software empire in Ukraine. Government and aerospace industry officials have expressed objections to Polyakov’s control of the company amid fears that valuable technology could make its way to Ukraine, Russia or other nations trying to develop rocket programs. Despite putting more than $200 million of his fortune into Firefly, Polyakov agreed to step down from the company’s board and Firefly’s day-to-day activities in late 2020 to help make it easier for the company to win U.S. government and military contracts and ease some of the underlying tensions.

Murica does not trust Ukraine, and neither does it want any competitors. So tough luck, losers…

Ukrainian Cops are Also THOT Patrollers

Ukraine is a crime ridden East European shithole and I bet there are more dangerous criminals to take care of. However, check out this operation the Ukrainian police conducted…

A woman from Kiev was arrested for selling photos of an intimate character on OnlyFans. It should be noted that the police organised a special operation and even spent their budget to do it. A cop has signed up to the girl’s account on Only Fans, and asked her to send him intimate photos. He bought the pics for 330 Hryvnia. On the pictures, the suspect is posing on a webcam naked and shows her genitalia. Given material is considered of pornographic character which is banned by the article 301 of the Criminal Law. She is facing a 3-7 years in prison.

If I was to give young women an advice, I would suggest they find a husband, and pop out some white children. But that would be a revolutionary act. As much as I am concerned, sex work should not be legislated against, especially in a poor country like Ukraine. Women that flash their genitalia on a webcam were never a good marriage material, and the whole business is based on an army of simps that seek out this kind of service.

The West Will Make Ukraine Better Than Russia…

And then Putler will shoot himself in the head, and Russia will be free…

There is a country called Abkhazia, it is a largely unrecognised state that split from Georgia. The country has a beautiful coastline, the entire area of the ancient kingdom of Colchis is a great place, the neighbouring Svaneti region of Georgia is beautiful as Arcadia. But Abkhazia does not have a developed tourism, and the Soviet and Tsarist hotels of Sukhumi, the capital lie in ruins. Is it because the state is unrecognised? It is recognised by Russia, it could be the next North Cyprus, and a destination worthy of visit. So why doesn’t Russia help Abkhazia become that? Russian investors tried…

I fear Western investors in Ukraine will have a similar experience. From RFE/RL:

A Canadian company has dismantled one of its multimillion-dollar solar investments in Ukraine following a dispute with a powerful tycoon believed to be close to the presidential administration in a case that has underscored the former Soviet state’s troubled investment climate.

TIU Canada completed the removal of its 10.5 megawatt power plant in Nikopol, a city about 500 kilometers southeast of the capital, Kyiv, in mid-November after failing to be reconnected to the electricity grid, company spokesman Brian Mefford told RFE/RL on December 28. The plant contained more than 32,000 solar panels

TIU Canada commissioned the $12 million plant on the territory of the Nikopol FerroAlloy Plant in January 2018 amid much fanfare, with representatives from the local government, foreign embassies, and business community in attendance.

TIU’s solar plant symbolized foreign investors’ interest in the country’s burgeoning alternative-energy industry. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy even highlighted TIU’s investment in a pitch to Canadian investors during a visit to Toronto in July 2019.

However, on March 1, 2020, the Nikopol FerroAlloy Plant disconnected TIU Canada from the electricity grid on the pretext of needing to make repairs to the power substation on its territory, the solar company said.

Almost two years later, the solar power plant remained idle, costing TIU Canada millions of dollars in lost revenue.

The decision to dismantle the plant follows an unsuccessful, two-year legal, media, and lobbying campaign against Nikopol FerroAlloy Plant and its main owner, Ihor Kolomoyskiy.

TIU hired Washington-based Blue Star Strategies late last year to lobby on its behalf before the U.S. government on “sustainable energy investments in Ukraine.”

TIU has accused Kolomoyskiy of cutting the company off from the grid in an attempt to purchase it at a knockdown price. Such ruthless business practices were common in the 1990s and early 2000s in many former Soviet states but have since subsided.

Nikopol FerroAlloy Plant, meanwhile, accused TIU Canada of blackmail and preventing it from carrying out urgent repairs.

However, Yurkovich told Voice of America he didn’t see anyone doing repairs. Instead, Nikopol FerroAlloy Plant had sent offers to buy the solar power plant at rock-bottom prices, he said.

Ukrainian business ombudsman Marchin Svenchintskiy told Voice of America that even if Nikopol FerroAlloy Plant had to urgently carry out repairs, the work “couldn’t last that long.”

Ukrainian law requires power stations to give their permission to be disconnected, making Nikopol FerroAlloy Plant’s actions illegal, TIU has argued.

However, the company has failed to win over a court system that is widely considered highly corrupt and its Nikopol project has become the latest poster child for the dangers of doing business in Ukraine.

Two court cases have failed to deliver any results for TIU. Several judges recused themselves from hearing the case, something that Yurkovich has attributed to their fear of crossing Kolomoyskiy.

“There are not many judges willing to take on the oligarchs, particularly Kolomoyskiy, and adhere to the rule of law,” Mefford said.

CEO Yurkovich “saw no solution to that situation” and decided to dismantle the project, Mefford said. TIU is storing the recoverable assets — at least temporarily — in Ukraine, he said.

TIU Canada has two other solar plants in Ukraine. Mefford declined to comment on the company’s future plans.

Ukraine has struggled to attract significant foreign investment since achieving independence from the Soviet Union 30 years ago due to its weak rule of law.

You see for every success story about a Western association leading to development, for every Germany, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, there is Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine. East European countries suffer from a corruption of local robber barons and need strong leadership to be successful. Zelensky promised deoligarchisation but so far he only goes after his political opponents and competitors of Kolomoysky. Thus, Zelensky first went after Medvedchuk, and more recently after Poroshenko. There were some vibes about a conflict with Akhmetov and Avakov, but I think that show has been postponed.

The Americans have supported Zelensky sanctions against Medvedchuk but I don’t hear them criticise Zelensky for pursuing Poroshenko. The Americans have been largely impotent against Kolomoysky. They made him a persona non grata but failed to enact any financial sanctions. I guess the persona non grata measure was done to placate the investors that are getting ass raped by Kolomoysky but I doubt Kolomoysky regrets he cannot travel to US. Zelensky is Kolomoysky’s puppet, and of course he didn’t do anything to protect the Canadian investors. It is less difficult to make prosperous the industrious and law abiding Germans, Koreans, and Japanese than the lawless and corrupt Ukrainians.

There will not be any peremoha.

Putin Voices a Claim I was Promoting for Last Decade Through my Blogging

In his recent press conference, Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin repeated a central thesis of my old blog Austere Insomniac, and that is Ukraine was created by the Bolsheviks. He said that Ukraine was territorially created out of Russian lands by comrade Lenin. Svidomites in Ukraine went into hysteria, and have displayed their historical illiteracy, and inability to listen. I get it, the modern age is too fast and neurotic. Some, like Sternenko, of Right Sector fame, said Kievan Rus existed before Moscow was even founded. That is true, but first of all, it was Rus, and also St. Vladimir came to Kiev from Novgorod, now in the Russian Federation. Rus Began around Lake Ladoga, also in the Russian Federation. Moscow was founded by the Kievan Prince Yuri Dolgoruki. If anything, Kievan Rus only reinforces Putin’s arguments.

A more smarter answer came from Mikhalchishyn, of VO Svoboda and Azov battalion fame, he said that the founders of Ukraine were Hrushevsky, Vynichenko, Petlyura and Mikhnovsky. Very different personages to be honest, however. Let’s analyze the names. Mikhailo Hrushevsky was the president of UNR (Ukrainian People’s Republic). It should be noted here that Putin did not speak about UNR, UNR was a state in Central and Western Ukraine. Petlyura’s Directoria was also active only in Central Ukraine. The Bolsheviks in Moscow territorially formed Ukraine independent of UNR, or whatever other abortive attempts at Ukrainian statehood.

The Bolsheviks added the Black Sea Coast, Crimea, Donbas, and Halychyna, Transcarpathia, and Volhynia in the West. So it is no understatement that the Bolsheviks created Ukraine territorially. Also, the Ukrainian identity was created through the policy of Korenizatsiya. It was a nation building policy imposed by Stalin on a population that didn’t really need it in my opinion. In Austrian Halychyna, during WWI, people defining as Russians were put in concentration in camps in Thalerhof and Theresin in Bohemia and Austria. Ukraine was created through a lot of suffering and unfreedom for people that do not subscribe to the Ukrainian script. I should add that the aforementioned Hrushevsky first served the Austrian government in implementing a state policy of conversion of West Russians to Ukrainians, and the latter moved back to Ukraine, and later served Stalin. Ukraine was created through the state policy of the Bolsheviks and the Habsburgs, and in both cases this was a crime against the Russian people.

Unless Ukrainians acknowledge their own origins, they will suffer neurosis indefinitely, and will be forever trolled by the Russians. It will be an endless show of Ukrainians trying to trip over themselves in an attempt to explain their existence. This khokhlosrach will never end! Although if Ukraines was ever to calm down, the Russians are perfectly willing to accept their Ukrainian identity because at the end of the day, it is of no consequence.

Update: I should add Stalin made Ukraine a founding member of the UN, this is how much the Bolsheviks created and legitimized Ukraine. How much has any other regime done for Ukraine in comparison?

Concerned About Russian Budget From Dnipro

I have already written about the Ukrainian city, Dnipro becoming a capital of telephone scam. Similar issue is with the West turning Ukraine into a massive troll farm. Large Russian speaking population that has been molded by propaganda is all but willing to troll the Russians pretending to be Russian. However, they often display signs of being Ukrainians, and blow their cover…

Belarus will receive a loan from Russia to the tune of 3.5 billion dollars. I, a Russian that pays taxes into the budged, so that schools, hospitals, roads can be built, and pensions for old people and the disabled increased am angry that Putin sponsors loyal cannibals with my tax money.

But in other posts, Vlad presents a completely Ukrainian reality:

Just imagine what has been done with Ukrainians after 30 years of resolute reforms. Here in Dnipro, a woman comes every Monday to trade vegetables all the way from Cherkassy. That is 290 km for your understanding.
The heating has been cut off. Instead of preserving my immunity, I am spending it to fight the cold. People will become sick and will run to get a test for Covid. Absolutely abysmal administrative decision. Filatov (the mayor, or the regional governor, I have to check) is toying with the collapse of the medical system of Dnipro and will decrease the immunity of the population.
