A righteous move from the Darkest one…
From FT:
Russian president Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Wednesday to allow residents of Moscow-backed rebel-held territories in eastern Ukraine to obtain Russian passports.
The decree — published on the Kremlin website just three days after Ukraine elected a new president in a landslide — allows residents of the two separatist “republics” in Ukraine’s coal-producing Donbass region to apply for Russian passports under a simplified three-month procedure.
Though the move may make lives easier for vulnerable local residents who still face daily artillery bombardments, it is likely to further complicate moribund peace talks between Moscow and Kiev, which president-elect Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to renew.
Anatoly Karlin wrote about it recently.
I have a new video on my Youtube channel, please subscribe if you haven’t done so…
In 2017, Tymoshenko warned us about a puppet of the oligarchs, who is a greenhorn in politics. The word “green” is clearly a hint about his identity:
The video has English subtitles…
In case you missed these news. Translated from Aftershock:
The government of Russia banned export of Russian oil and oil products to Ukraine. This was announced on Thursday (the article is date 18 April) on a meeting of the government and by the Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, when he spoke about the enactment of restrictive measures by Ukraine against the Russian Federation.
“We are setting up a ban on exports of Russian oil and oil products to Ukraine.” -the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said.
Medvedev also announced the expansion of the ban on the import of certain Ukrainian products. “We need to defend our interests and must take reciprocal measures.” -the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said.
“I have singed a government directive on this topic. We are expanding the ban on the import of certain products from Ukraine. It will concern Ukrainian products of mechanical engineering, light industry, metal processing, the cost of which is $250 million.” -said Medvedev.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers explained that it will be possible to export some Russian products to Ukraine with a special permit. “Now a list of goods which it will be possible to export to Ukraine starting 1 June is being formed. Energy products are being included there, including oil and oil products.”
The Prime Minister added that he singed this directive several days ago. “Several days ago, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine have committed another unfriendly act towards our country. They have expanded the list of Russian products whose import into Ukraine is banned. We are forced to enact retaliatory measures to protect our interests.”
Apart from oil, Russia has banned the import into Ukraine of:
Products of coal tar processing
ethylene, propene, butene, butadiene
asphalt compounds for roads
benzene, toluene, xylene
paraffin, wax, made from oil products, mineral waxes, Vaseline
Product from Ukraine that are prohibited to be imported into Russia:
pipe laying machines, forklifts, bulldozers
hardware fasteners, ropes, cords, wires, nets
steel tableware
underwear, stockings, socks, bras, belts, corsets, braces, garters
shoes, soles, heel pads
suits, jackets, dresses, skirts, pants, shorts, t-shirts, long sleeve t-shits, sweaters
So I listened to a video of Tet’yana Mont’yan, a Ukrainian lawyer and blogger, and she explained that Ihor Kolomoysky (aka. Benya) is the real winner of the Ukrainian presidential elections. But better yet she tells us, who Kolomoysky is…
I translate:
Do not forget that Benya is fully responsible for the Maidan, and the House of Unions in Odessa (events of 2 May 2014), and the atrocities committed by volunteer battalions that he sponsored. Benya promised to pay 10 kilo tuns of bucks ($10,000) for a Moskal (a Russian). He called Putin, a “dwarf” and a “schizophrenic”. And by the irony of fate, Putin might have to shake hands with Zelensky, a hologram created by Kolomoysky.
The $10,000 for a Mokal billboard was apparently Fake News, but Boris Filatov, currently the Mayor of Dnepropetrovsk, really did offer the reward of $10,000 for every “green man” as the Russian volunteers and intervening forces in Crimea and the East of Ukraine have been called.

But I digress, Putler has yet to recognise Zelensky, and the question is “Will he?” I think he should not recognise the Ukrainian government, on the basis that Ukrainians in Russia have been prevented from voting.
The victory of Zelensky has left many orphans. One of them is Volodymyr Viatrovych, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance…
Porokhobots have been orphaned because their position of Ukrainisation, government meddling into affairs of the Church, war in the East, has clearly lost by a huge margin. But the struggle continues…

I can only wish Viatrovych that Zelensky keeps him in the position he now occupies, no doubt well paid for somebody of his profession.

I was looking for something interesting to post about the Ukrainian presidential election but I do not wish to cover the dirt slinging from either side. And besides, I do not feel very passionate about either of the candidates. But this is funny…

From the NYT:
The Ukraine connection
Ukraine is suffering through a measles outbreak that began in 2017. The country has had almost 70,000 cases — more than any other country in recent years.
The infections have not been confined to a particular ethnic group. The country is at war with pro-Russian separatists on its eastern border, distrust in government is high, and rumors about vaccines are rife — one of which began when a 17-year-old died of unrelated causes after getting a shot.
The Ukrainian government also rejected cheaper Indian and Korean vaccines in favor of European ones, but they cost more than the government could afford, Dr. Larson said.
But the real problem appears to have begun at Rosh Hashana.
Each year on the holiday, tens of thousands of Orthodox men travel to Uman, a Ukrainian city where the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, founder of one branch of Hasidism, has become a popular pilgrimage site. (The festivities have been called the “Hasidic Burning Man.”)
Last year, Rosh Hashana fell in early September. Later that month, measles cases exploded in Israel, rising to a peak of 949 in October. The cause? Numerous pilgrims came back from Ukraine with the virus, experts believe.
New York’s outbreak began in October; the first patient was a child in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn who had visited Israel. At the same time, a measles outbreak began among Orthodox Jews in London.

Translated from Antikor:
Protoiereus of the Orthodox Church, Petro Zinich said that all those people, who voted for Volodymyr Zelensky will burn in Hell.
This is what the cleric wrote in a commentary he made on Facebook.
The publication of a user, Yuri Doroshenko, concerned the second round of presidential elections.
“I would like to remind those who love colour green, that the Russian plague began with green men.” -Doroshenko wrote. (The rant is a pun upon Zelensky’s name, which contains the root “zelen” -green)

The Protoierus of OCU, who serves in St. Volodymyr church in Kiev, wrote a sensational announcement in response.
“Everyone, who votes for that clown Zelensky, will burn in Hell.” He ended his diatribe by: “Amen and Glory to God!”
…
To which Yuri Doroshenko answered: “word of a true pastor, who testifies the truth.”
