Bellingcat Shadow Banned for Disinformation

Reports are coming in that Bellingcat was shadow banned over spreading disinformation about the Texas shooter.

Twitter has blocked the Bellingcat account in search. The owner of the social network, Elon Musk has accused the project of manipulation and the manager of Bellingcat, Christo Grozev went into a polemic with Musk.

Elon Musk was not happy about their report, which the Permogi blog says contained an information that the shooter had an account on the Russian social media site Odnoklassniki.

Seeing Christo Grozev get salty, warmed my heart.

I personally have no clue about what the fuck is happening. Earlier, I heard the shooter, Mauricio Garcia was a white supremacist. Here is NPR saying he was full fash.

Twitter Mass Purges Right-Wing Accounts

How many times do I have to repeat it? Twitter is not a safe platform, where you can discuss politics. Maybe the people will finally realize there is a life out there without Twitter and Facebook. Stop feeding the beast. I only visit Twitter to research for this blog because everyone is there.

On Monday evening, a mass ban occurred of mostly anonymous right wing Twitter accounts, with many of them being connected to the America First sphere of Twitter, including American Populist Union’s Vince Dao, and the news outlet Media Right News.

Many of those users informed National File that they were banned for allegedly violating Twitter rules regarding “platform manipulation and spam.”

Breitbart’s Allum Bokhari, author of #DELETED, one of the most prominent books studying the phenomenon of Big Tech censorship, suggested that the ban wave happened due to “some kind of new banning algorithm” being deployed by Twitter, “probably using network analysis to suppress an entire cluster at once.”

Why ban single profiles, when you can purge an entire community. Entire communities being purged out of public discourse is a feature of totalitarian regimes. Our elected representatives do precious little to force these corporations to allow a freedom of speech because they personally benefit from such a method of control. And they have the alibi of not being directly involved in the censorship. This way they have evolved from their bolshevik and fascist predecessors but the outcome is very similar.

In other news, I hear that Gab is experiencing a surge in activity, welcoming refugees from Twitter. I have had a presence there but I do not update that space very often, actually I never got accustomed to using it.

Russia Slows Down Twitter

Roskomnadzor, the Russian agency that monitors and sanctions media has decided to slow down Twitter…

RIA Novosti reports that such a decision was taken because the website refuses to block illegal content. The moderators of Twitter have allegedly failed to remove 3,168 publications containing calls for suicide, child pornography and about the use of drugs.

That is, Roskomnadzor does not care that people with a pro-Russian opinion (see here and here) are massively being blocked by US social media sites, and they come up with a lame justification for why an American tech giant should have their work made more difficult in Russia.

I personally believe that American websites such as Twitter, Facebook, Google and YouTube ought to be blocked in Russia (a market of 150 million people) as an answer to US and Western sanctions. These billion dollar businesses would be easier to ban than food imports. It is not like Facebook is something you necessarily need for living.

I tend to make searches of my website from time to time, and today I found these tweets from 2019. They urge users of Twitter to report my page, my blog and my YouTube channel, The Insomniac Resurrected Twitter page has long been suspended.

They are fucking with us, another professional Kremlin troll active in debates on Twitter. He speaks English, French, Ukrainian and Czech. Has a website and a YouTube channel. Report him!!!

Twitter Censors Eduard Dolinsky by Hiding his Profile

The reason I stopped using Twitter and Facebook is because of wanton censorship. A variety of blockages, shadow bans, termination of accounts is being deployed against a vast variety of people for an incredible range of transgressions. Sometimes you don’t even know what caused the ban you received. There is illegal content that should absolutely be removed from websites but most people are not sanctioned for any of that. And really, the correct answer, the minute you receive a ban is to stop using that site. There is Telegram, and everyone is posting there…

Now sometimes, the social media engage in a strange obstruction of content. Eduard Dolinsky is the head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee and regularly posts information regarding the rampant rehabilitation of Nazi collaborators in Ukraine. This is what his Twitter page looks like when you load it…

So, apparently, brining attention to monuments to Nazis is including sensitive content. Look at the way the profile is hidden from view, as if it was deleted. This is a form of censorship as there isn’t a valid reason to hide his profile and its contents.

And his posts are equally hidden…

There is an option to change settings but I will not register to Twitter again.
