  1. Speaking of which, it’s said that those anti-Putin Russians who carried out the border raid in Belgorod were also Nazis. You see, I want to use this chance to highlight something: the problem with both left wings and right wings is that they’re looking at events and political fractions through the lenses of values rather than what it actually does. To them, Western right wing populists are “based”, so all far rights are also based. You get to see Western far rights supporting anyone who’re right wing and anti-communist enough. They don’t care what those fractions will actually lead to, nor things like who’re their sponsors.

This make them really gullible. Well, both of us have dealt with enough Western right wingers by now. And from the looks of things, the elites are also getting smarter with how they set up controlled oppositions. They may say something that looks workable and manage to fool even the ones who look at things through a more mechanical angle, on top of those value-obsessed idiots. If you ask me, I say the smartest thing they should do, is to figure out who are the fractions sponsors and combine it with the already known natures of the fraction, and from there, they may be able to predict how things will go and what will be the outcomes.

The Russian Nazis may become a trouble at some point. Which may prove a point I try to make; this right wing surge (a direct response of the incompetent liberal establishments during the time of economic crisis) will not go anywhere and it’ll lead to a scenario where everyone bleeds. To fix this those, I say the smartest way would be to take things apart and see where the problems at, like how a surgery is performed, and deal with them accordingly. But that will have to wait. In the meanwhile, it’s time to stop buying into values or any “-ism”, as that’s the best way to be fooled.

    1. Russia, much like Ukraine had a vibrant neonazi scene in the nineties and into the 2000s. The radical nationalists also formed the most powerful anti-Putin narrative. After the Euromaidan, these groups have alarmed the Kremlin and began to be repressed. Many fled to Ukraine. Honestly, they are tolerated as useful idiots by the Ukrainians. Unless these Ukrainians adhere to some neonazi white international principles, the run of the mill fan of Stepan Bandera has no time for this shit.

      1. Sometimes I can’t help but wonder: if Kremlin could realize how they can be manipulated and do something more active about those radical nationalists from the get go, things will become way less messy. I mean, true, they may look like they care about Russia as a nation and all that, but it’s about what their ideas and action may lead to and who will be the one to manipulate them. I think Putin probably didn’t see them as a threat due to the supposedly nationalist sentiment they have (as opposed to Pussy Riot) and view them as some sort of misguided patriots. Things don’t work that way.

There’s a reason why I don’t do Chinese nationalism that much (yes, anti-Russia Chinese nationalists do exist. Similarly, I don’t think those radical Russian nationalists have a very high opinion of China). I don’t care about that sense of romance of “fighting for our motherland”. I care more about what shits actually lead to.

      2. I believe nationalism is a stupid ideology designed to control the masses. It plays on emotions, stokes chauvinism and hatred. Negative, soul eating emotions. There is little wrong with some degree of patriotism but there is a limit. Ukraine being a totally ahistorical entity and robbed blind by the oligarchs. Stoking radical nationalism has kept up morale and legitimacy of the establishment.

The wrong assumption is that Putin is some kind of a demiurge that controls all. Honestly, Putin’s style is dealing with everything incrementally. The Nazi problem became urgent after Euromaidan. Hence they were dealt with. Many of these Nazis promoted destructive ideologies, and were likely coached by Western intelligence services. The West had long interest in Russian nationalists and Neonazis because the Jewish liberals failed in their mission. Besides, the latter named would need muscle to achieve anything.
