Baldur’s Gate to Be Made by the Creators of Veilguard
Baldur’s Gate III was a really cool game, and I had lot of fun playing through it. But the Larian Studios that made it will not work on a sequel.

It’s worth remembering that Swen Vincke was the backbone of the Baldur’s Gate 3 project. There have been long-standing rumors that Wizards of the Coast had little idea what to do with the Baldur’s Gate IP. Initially, they reportedly showed minimal interest and only handed it to Larian as a quick cash grab. However, once Baldur’s Gate 3 became one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed video games—at least in the eyes of many—Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro seemingly began interfering in future plans, asserting more control over the decision-making process.
My information is that WoC and Hasbro have a long term issue with their D&D franchise, the products are simply not selling the way they would like. BGIII made a breakthrough in rendering the D&D experience digital, and commercializing it. And they wanted to milk the fucker.
After Larian Studios ended its relationship with Wizards of the Coast and reportedly moved on to develop its own new IP—rumored to be a sci-fi RPG—Wizards of the Coast began looking for new developers for its Baldur’s Gate sequel. But from what we’ve gathered, that process didn’t last long, as it seems they decided in the end—along with Hasbro, probably—to create a subsidiary game studio, Skeleton Key, and have Baldur’s Gate 4 developed in-house.

Concurrently, they are trying to change the narratives of the original game. There is an attempt to humanize the orcs, something similar was done in the recent Tolkien inspired Amazon series. D&D orcs have been moved from the Monster’s Manual to the Player’s Handbook as a playable race.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is a Simulation of a Civ Game

Dear readers, I had the honor to play Civilization VII for the past three nights, and I am sorely disappointed. The game feels like a simulation of a Civilization game rather than a real Civ…
The game introduces a new mechanic of changing ages. And with an age you change a civilization. So, I was playing in the ancient age, as the Romans, led by Harriet Tubman. 😆 And suddenly, I managed to make it to the exploration age, where I chose the Spanish.
One moment in the game I had Roman legions, suddenly the scenery changed, and I had Spanish tercios armed with muskets and halberds. I was literally transported from 1 AD to the 1500. I have nothing against the idea of ages, and changing of civilization. But I expected the change to be gradual, I expected to be faced with a crisis. I expected my old age units to be retained and I would have to spend money to upgrade them. Upgrading units as in other Civ games seems not implemented. You cannot upgrade early game warriors to legionnaires.
Also, units don’t seem to be linked to resources. I must say I was spamming legions like there was no tomorrow. I have not researched gunpowder or developed related resources but I had a number of tercios. So I gathered them and went on to conquer a city. The musket and halberd armed tercios were weak against a swordsman. Luckily I took the city because I overwhelmed my opponent with units. Yesterday I tried to take one of those neutral settlements and I walked in and did not take it over.
In this game you kinda never know if you are doing something wrong or the game is glitched. The game held rather steady, I did not experience any crashes but I had several animation glitches when units are attacking.
Overall, I must say I am glad I did not pay for it, and played it from my relative’s Steam library. I have actually bought only two games recently, that is Space Marine II and Baldur’s Gate III. I will not be turning Civ VII on for now. Maybe if they get to work and present a very different game several months from now, I might give it a go.
Fuck EVs in 2025
This is post that will sum up my post disparaging electric vehicles…
Personally, I would not even be so anal about electric vehicles if the EU did not want to ban combustion engine by 2035, and there wasn’t a sense of hopelessness that we cannot do anything about it. Politicians cannot be trusted, and those that can don’t have enough support. It is fucked up, and hopefully forces that want to keep the combustion engine for the people to exploit will win in the end.
EVs are an evolutionary dead end. Tesla looks high tech, and those Chinese EVs seem to be quite neat but combustion engine is still superior. Batteries make trucks heavy, I am sorry but they need to have a diesel engine. I am all for hybrids, they seem to make consumption of diesel fuel more efficient, and I am for diesel fuel made from sources other than oil. I wonder how much diesel a society can generate from cooking oil, and other biological material? Imagine households could sell this shit to diesel refineries powered by nuclear reactors. I could even have a bio-reactor to make basic materials in my garden.
EVs don’t like very low or very high temperatures. They are simply shit cars. We need good reliable gear on not some ideologically propped garbage.
Solar panels don’t interest me, we don’t even have a sun in this part of the world. I give some chances to geothermal and I am totally bullish on nuclear. We need those nuclear reactors built ASAP. Windmills need to be discarded and anyone building them shamed.
Czechia Should Leave NATO ASAP
Czech normies normally flip out at this suggestion. This is a very unpopular opinion here in Czechia but I will voice it anyway…
NATO is going to cost us. Donald Trump wants an alliance. He does not want America to be our daddy. He wants defense partners that would spend on defense like Murica does. Presumably buying American weapons systems, and making America rich. Trump wants 5% of GDP to be spent on defense. The Czech minister for European affairs…

…says we can increase defense spending by increasing taxes. And my friends, I don’t want parasites like this minister to be advocating for bigger taxes. I want lower taxes, and a thinner state. No useless ministers, and no large military budgets.
If you look at neighboring countries like Austria, or Switzerland (Switzerland is like 5 hour drive from here), both of which are not in NATO, have very low defense budgets. Austria 0.84%, and Switzerland 0.70%. Somehow they don’t need NATO for defense, even the recent invasion of Ukraine didn’t make them join, unlike Scandinavia. For some reason they are not afraid of Putin.
More NATO spending will mean less money for healthcare and education. There is no free college or healthcare in the US. While I am on of those that thinks this sector ought to be more privatized but there needs to some government involvement as this is imperative for maintaining high level of human capital needed for development.
Supporters of NATO are telling us that if we get out of there, we will need to spend more on defense. Like 26% of GDP as did Czechoslovakia in the interwar period. But Czechoslovakia was literally surrounded on all sides by hostile states with territorial pretensions. Czechia doesn’t have this problem. So we either have a choice, be a worthy ally to Murica or decide our own defense policy.
Do Ukrainians Want War?

My question is why should the Russians tolerate anti-Russian governments on their borders? Would the United States tolerate anti-American neighbors? Ask Cuba! It is my contention that Ukraine never had a pro-Russian government. No Ukrainian government was ever able to make the Russian language second official despite the Russian language being spoken by over 70% of the population.
In fact if you look, the Russians had a problem with explicitly anti-Russian governments that followed Western sponsored color revolutions in 2004 and 2013. These shifts ment attacks on Russian language, attacks on the Orthodox Church, suppression of political forces accused of pro-Russianness, Russophobia in the media, extrajudicial killings of individuals not content with this state of affairs, glorification of Nazi collaboration, Neonazism, the burning of people in Odessa, and all out war in the Donbas.
Supporters of Ukraine would like you to believe that this is all Russia’s fault, and was all done by the arch-devil, Igor Girkin. They are completely oblivious to the fact that only a minority of people in Donetsk liked Ukraine and Ukrainian Nazis. Usually the wealthier did, the rest of the population did not. What is wrong with Russia lending support to these people? Should Russia just stand and watch how Azov Nazis roll over them with tanks? Sorry dude, in which world do you live in?

How did the Ukrainians assert their “independence”?
Ukrainian discourse is based on profound mystification. Ukraine was independent since 1991. Russia accepted this independence but this independence was not enough for some people. Some people wanted a war. Children jumping screaming “Hang the Muscovite” is African level political performance. Russia is determined to kill them all before they grow. I am sorry, this is not me saying it.
Denazification is genocide my friends, Russia will kill them all. Killing Nazis that want to kill you is wrong and Russia is the asshole aggressor. Russia should allow the Nazis to kill Russians, or the West will implement punitive measures, sanctions, embargoes, pressure against Russia’s trading partners, exclusion from sporting events, and they will give weapons to Ukrainian Nazis to kill the Russians better because they are killing orcs. This is Warhammer and the Ukrainians are dwarves killing orcs because of a grudge.

My philosophy is work less you will have more will to live. Work-life balance puts work and life into opposition. Work is not life, and hard work by definition is not a good life. Hard work cannot a priori lead to a good life.
You can make good money through hard work. But if you have to clock in at 8 and work long hours of a stressful job to maintain your income, what sense does it make? By the way, you are a slave, a captive animal. Elephants are highly emotional and they would not breed in captivity.
