“Russian Starlink” is causing a worry in Ukraine. Ukraine warns that it is a threat also to Europe.
Rassvet (рассвет – dawn), the Russian answer to the American satellite internet, Starlink is creating anxiety in Kiev. The Ukrainians are saying the Russians are building it faster than expected.
Since the Ukrainians managed to convince Elon to turn off Starlink to the Russians, it is only natural the Russians were looking for alternatives. A question remains is why didn’t they do it earlier? Maybe because Starlink ate up the revenue and now there is a niche opened. Maybe Russia was planning the rollout anyway but the shutdown of Starlink expedited the process.
