Of Tigers and Bears

So, Trump called Russia a paper tiger, and said Ukraine can still win. Peskov replied that the Russians are bears, and will continue fighting…

Is Russia a paper tiger because it cannot defeat Ukraine in 3 years? Are we assuming that, Ukraine, the largest country in Europe, with NATO support, modern weapons, constant deliveries from the West, its soldiers are trained in NATO countries, NATO officers have trained Ukrainian soldiers in Ukraine prior to the invasion, financial support from the West flows in, mercenaries join the fight (I have seen countless videos of Ukrainian soldiers that don’t speak Ukrainian and Russian). So, technically, Ukraine is no Iraq.

And Russia did not employ its entire military in the invasion, in fact the invasion started rather small. We have to ask why, and I really don’t have an answer. Was it because Russia didn’t have the force ready, was it because they wanted to force Ukraine into negotiations, rather than destroy it, was it because Putin did not want rock things at home through mobilization? I really don’t know but this encouraged the Ukrainians to attack the Russians and feels some rush of peremoha.

There is also the theory that Russia is stalling the advance on purpose. And there are varying explanations for it. The darkest one fears being overthrown by returning soldiers. The darkest one wants to extend the West, industrially, militarily, financially. Bottom line guys is that even if Russia was weak, Ukraine is not scoring any gains over Russia.

  1. Trump only say it now because he realized Putin is not giving him a buffet. I mean, let’s face it, dude was born rich. He’s used to people giving him silver spoon treatment. Once he sees Putin, who despite being polite and all with him, refuse to give him that treatment, he became confused. He thought the world outside of US would work as he wishes, that’s his problem. Well, in a sense, he is better than the alternatives though, as the alternative will actually kick you into kneeling, while Trump just yells and throwing tariffs. That said, when Trump begin to actively and aggressively funding NGO, that’s when Russia, China and given the circumstance, India too, should worry.

    1. I never took Trump’s boasting about how he would end the war seriously. The war can only be ended by Ukraine striking a deal with Russia and sticking with it. There is a lot of diplomatic push for ceasefire because Ukraine is cooked. Some people have it that if this continues there might not be any Ukraine left to fight the next war. 😆👌

      1. Ukraine right now has two choices; just accept it as it is, that they lost the East and great chunk of the south. Then just settle it right there and denounce Nazism. Either that, or be the West’s favorite martyr. The Frodo probably hasn’t realized how the Western world is highly individualistic and they have no problem at abandoning him when it suits their interests, regardless whatever they’ve done to Ukraine and what not. This is why you can’t really trust the West that much. At best, you sink with it – I predict much if the “democratic” part of East Asia will sink along with the West. At worst? There’s Saddam, and Zelensky may be next.

      2. The West would no doubt abandon a lost cause that is the project Ukraine. But I am not sure if Zelensky has the power to simply capitulate to Russia. There is the Nazi factor and I cannot say where the level of Ukrainian Nazi fanaticism is. Should Zelensky go to Moscow, there could be a coup. So it makes more sense for Frodo to keep fighting until Russia diminishes this threat on the battlefield. Ukraine could be quite unstable in the future as the Nazis could turn their wrath and desire for revenge against the Ukrainian government, seeing them as traitors to their cause.

Russia, I think doesn’t want to occupy the entire Ukraine. This is a pointless and wasteful undertaking. Definitely not the territories west of the Dnieper except for maybe Odessa.
