Based on everything I know, out of all former Soviet countries, Ukraine really has the least rights to talk about getting fucked over by USSR. From the most well off former Soviet country back in the 90s to now. They have no one but their own lack of insights to blame. They’re driven by idealism, don’t understand how the West works and want to play victim in order for the West to accept them, so they get to live like how average pre-2010s French and German live (if they even understand the difference between US/EU back in 90s and 2000s as opposed to today’s mess). Shit, they can’t even see past their own oligarchs and Ukraine today is said to be even more corrupted than some sub-Saharan African countries, yet they still lack the willingness to understand who’s pulling the strings. This is what happens when folks daydream too much.
Ukraine was first of all created to benefit the elite. Why is Ukraine a unitary state? Ukraine is a patchwork of historically barely related territories with different linguistic and even ethnic composition. It would make sense if Ukraine was a federation that would accommodate the disparate territories. But that would not benefit the rent seeking elite because autonomous territories would not have large budgets that could be stolen. Same goes for the pro-Western vector. Nobody asked the Ukrainians whether they want the EU or NATO but elite has decided for them. This is a captive elite, with money stashed in Western banks that will do anything the West asks of them.
Ukrainians have no one else but their own lack of understanding of human nature to blame. Folks like Anastasia don’t really understand human behaviors and how power works, and that’s why she’s gullible. It’s the same thing I’ve seen from that Hong Kong crying girl from 2019 on YouTube who cried over that “police is there to protect us. How can they be so cruel?” bullshit…well, knowing her mama stood next to her, who was actually shorter than her crying skank ass…probably be giving her tall ass that ancient Chinese kong fu discipline without her fighting back; shit she probably take down her pants for her mama to cane…ok, before it becomes too long winded as I was about to talk about how to take down her mama, leave her house with her and serve that well-spanked Hong Kong punini right, let’s get back to the topic. Don’t expect folks like Anastasia nor the crying Hong Kong girl to understand how power works, even if they did good in schools, get top grades regularly, have a good career going…etc. I recommend everyone to look more into psychology instead of just pure politics, so at least folks will know what they’re talking about and stop coming across as being uber cringe.

This is true, Ukraine had all the factories left from USSR and even the Tsarist days. They could easily be a weapons manufacturing powerhouse.
