Big Success

Taiwan wants to turn Czechia into a base of supplies for a TSMC chip factory in Dresden.

The planned chip factory in Dresden will bring investments into Czechia. A base for companies will be created here, which will take part in the construction and running of the project that will cost 10 billion euros.

Markéta (Pakarová-Adamová, speaker of the parliament and head of TOP 09) supports trade with our allies, her predecessor flew to Moscow to meet his friends.

For context, TOP 09 is one of the many political parties here in the Czech Republic. We have many parties because in our little valley every Indian wants to be a chief. Currently, TOP 09 is a member of the ruling coalition, and Markéta is the speaker of the parliament. Their support is teetering at the threshold of electability. Their predecessors are poised to win the next election.

And Markéta flew to Taiwan several times and the result is a factory in Dresden in Saxony and subcontractors here in the Czech lands. Subcontractor is the economic model of this country. Cheap workforce that makes screws for value added goods made in Germany. The biggest export partner of the Czech Republic is Germany, meanwhile the biggest export partner of Germany is the United States. You see how this works.

And because the wages in the Czech Republic are way lower than in Germany, Amazon.de bases its warehouses here in Czechia, where Czech slaves are working for a pittance. At least I can set Amazon.de to Czech, that’s what I call progress.

  1. To be fair at least Czech Republic is a proper extension of the German economy, Hungary for example is legit dump, and lets not talk about the Balkans, shwaynees turned Greece economy into pile of shattered glass, and now are pushing for globohomo marriage there.

But the chicken is coming home to roost.

PS. State department put out many documents about Helmuth Kohl out, so again, really I don’t feel much sorry for Germany. As for the whole Taiwan shtick, well soon China will produce better semiconductors.

    1. I would not be surprised if the Taiwanese do not contribute to development of semiconductors in China. There is a programme to bring in talent from Taiwan to work in China, how successful it is I don’t know.

      1. Lol Russians brought 300 engineers from Taiwan in late 2021. I also heard about the Taiwanese brain drain to China, there was blogger Spandrell was writing about it a lot. No idea how much of it is true tho.

      2. I heard about this from Karlin, who was citing Spandrell I think. I dated a Taiwanese girl and her uncle had a factory on the mainland. I think the contacts are quite rich, after all there is no linguistic or cultural barrier.

      3. You’d be surprised about how many Taiwanese living and working in Shanghai, I’ll tell you that much. Well, based on my experience of LARPing as Taiwanese, it seems the most skilled and educated Taiwanese don’t have too much faith in Taiwan. A lot of them end up either studying, if not living and working in PRC, mostly in the southeastern coastal cities.

  2. Well, based on the condition of those Taiwanese owned factories in PRC, I say it’ll be a world of pain for the workers. Well, be glad that you guys are not us nor Vietnamese or anything like that, or you’ll receive treatment that’s borderline atrocity.
