The West, UK and Germany primarily , plus Rio Tinto company want to dig a mine in western Serbia that would destroy two of the countries biggest aquifers. Serbia is actually not having enough of rivers, and it depends on underground water.
So, long story short many of the people supporting EU were lets say like some of the Ukrs imagining EU like a place without corruption blah blah, so first impulse of the naive brigade was to reach out to EU. And they run into quite hard reality. Just two examples
Recently Brussels made a documentary representing the whole population of Serbia as retarded provincialists who need to be tamed for greater good. I must admit that I didn’t watch it, but I’ve seen some shorts on youtube, for example some villager passing by Rio Tinto exec and telling him we will not let you to dig and continuing on his way and exec went to mental meltdown how he must listen that every times when he comes. Crying harrasment and so.
The second example is some ecologist NGO leaders went to meet German Green party members, they didn’t let them meet top dogs but some random guy from Bundestag who ended up lashing out at them with : shut up Serbian monkeys we’re talking about future of Europe here.
If I can give the Serbs a piece of advice, they should stay the fuck out of the EU. EU means loss of sovereignty. There arenāt that many benefits to being in the EU to be honest.
At this point, joining EU is kinda pointless. I mean, what are they going to do? Can they finally get EU to hop off Russophobia and worry about what’s good for Europe? Can they make Europe to be completely sovereign, free of that Atlanticist bullshit? Can they get EU to make up its mind on what to do with the tariffs? No? Then don’t.
What Serbia can do, is to try to find ways to trade with China on rare earth, then borrow some money to start its own tech industry. This way, China gets to profit off those rare earth, and countries like Serbia gets to have a robust tech industry. EU gets to be the buyers for Serbian tech products…that is something EU can do. Serbia is landlocked, so it makes little sense to see US as buyers. Then from that point on, as Serbia finally gets it’s economic together, it gets to do something about Kosovo and who knows? Once everything goes well, then Serbia may be able to turn itself into a financial hub for the European businessmen who’re losing confidence to EU’s policies, which makes little financial sense.
