What cities do you want to visit?
Florence, and visit the galleries, maybe spend few nights there. I have been to the city several times but my parents are not very art oriented, and we only walked around the city and ate in a restaurant there…

Florence, Verona, Bologna, Bari, Genoa, all good stuff to visit. Way better than Rome or Venice.
In general, Italy is still probably best place in Europe all things considered.

Venice is overcrowded but to tell you the truth, I found Rome rather nice. Big crowds around Vatican and the Forum but outside the city felt spacious and the subtropical climate made it so nice.
