Well in current year yes haha, but in general even in “good old days” niche hobbies would be ruined by going mainstream. I mean it ruins the whole point of having a niche.
The whole other topic is, how much is actually healthy for society to have arguably smart people wasting their time learning the “lore” of phantasy stuff, I mean we have people nowadays that learned history of Westeros or whatever crap they indulge in better than history of their own country.
I remember going into the Star Trek forum, I think it’s dead now, and the guys there were having internet fight with slurs flying around about how some piece of sci-fi nonsense works, like literal made up techno babble that is scientifically most likely impossible. Honestly sportsball fans at that point make more sense, at least they’re talking about real life people.

True, being a nerd in Warhammer, or Star Trek is literally cringe. But somehow, I am reluctant to beat somebody over it. The modern man needs this escapism, also this world does not need your intellectual shit anyway.
