So, you may have heard about the shortage of eggs as it was hyped up in Russophobic Western and Ukrainian media. And I have for months seen two types of videos, some grannies fighting over cheap eggs brought to town by a truck, and people in Russian shops saying the eggs are there.

So I decided to do a little digging…

The two images seem contrasting but they are contradictory. There are eggs in shops but their price has jumped. This is because of the outbreak of bird flu on several farms that led to mass culling of chickens there. Obviously, grannies take any opportunity to buy something cheaper, and that generated the scenes that we have seen.
