I dunno what got into Prigozhin. What is that man up to? I mean at first I was thinking it may have been a psy-ops, especially considering how he got away with talking so much shit about Russian military. But now? Wtf has gotten into him?

He got away this time too by the way. Peskov said he will be going to Belarus. In my opinion, he has this kind of psychopathy where he has lofty dreams and thinks the world owes him something. I once thought his troll farm was a Western disinformation but now I think he is crazy enough to set up something like that, not to mention a different generation to me. Honestly, if this isn’t some elaborate 4D chess ruse, it is really bad optics. Funny I tell my tourists this line everyday:
Count Adolf was shot by his mercenaries because he did not pay them.
I guess this is a similar situation, where a mercenary force has been somehow wronged. Although, 25k Wagnerians would have stood no chance here.

I’ve done a bit digging and I think I got a better picture of what’s going on now. I gonna make a post about it tomorrow on Fuckbook, as VK is not exactly a safe place to talk about it, especially if I want to live in Russia or at least visit there at some point.
For those who have at least certain level of understanding of Russian politics, it’s common knowledge that Putin is not a hardliner by any means and by removing Putin, US and EU may have opened a Pandora’s box. As I’ve indicated before on numbers of occasions on Fuckbook, VK, Quora and even Reddit (I was using my Taiwanese fake account LOL. Another story), that Putin really just wants to keep a balance of power and want to maintain a healthy relationship with US, EU, China and India, and it’s US and EU who have been fucking up by becoming overly possessive towards Russia.
That said, true hardliners do exist. I’m not talking about those Russian Nazhomo hiding in Ukraine and carrying out attacks in Belgorod. I’m talking about those who really want to do things such as nuking Ukraine and retaking Alaska…etc. Many of which are angry with Putin for being too soft on Ukraine – well, in a sense, he is. I think Putin kinda view Ukraine as Russia’s retarded little brother and may just want to give them a little spanking, but many hardliners don’t really share his view and want Ukraine to be wiped the fuck out for good.
Now, with Prigozhin, I’m not that familiar with his actual political stance, as he seems to be kept to business only…from food catering to mercenary. It could be that
-He’s also one of those, just that he keeps it to himself and have been waiting to unleash it at a right time.
-Either that, or perhaps he’s just a brilliant opportunist who understands the political climate of Russia. He knows who to talk to, what to do and what to say to please certain demographics within Russia. The man may be hungry for both power and cash, and he sees an opportunity presents itself and decides to take it.
But with either scenario, it means Prigozhin wasn’t just doing psy-ops. There was a reason why neither Putin nor Shoigu nor any higher up within Moscow dares to touch him. Because when you really look at it, by persecuting Prigozhin, Putin may just made him a martyr right then right there. It’ll cause uproars among Russian hardliners, who may feel betrayed by Putin. Liberasts who know how realpolitik works may join force with hardliner (sorry, Western idealists, realpolitik still exists. Good guys and bad guys work with each other and it’s actually quite normal), and US and EU may just take advantage of this rift and start all sorts of shit within Russia’s border.
So what can Putin do? Just send him away and keep an eye out on him. We can only hope that Prigozhin doesn’t switch camp and join in with US or Ukraine for the sake of cash – there’s a chance that US will try to whitewash Prigozhin, especially given Wagner’s efforts at combating Isis in Syria back in mid-to-late 2010s, which means it’s possible for Washington to form some sort of talking point to make it sounds sensible to the publics.

Prigozhin has nowhere to run really. He relies on the Russian state.

Lot of speculation about Prigozhin out there. My opinion is that having armed mercenaries out of control is not a good look. Today’s world is a lot about the image you project.

Look at it from a philosophical view.
This reminds me of Machiavelli’s quotes about the concept of mercenaries.
“If one holds his state based on mercenaries, he will be neither secure nor peaceful; for they are divided, disloyal, ambitious and without discipline… have neither the fear of God nor are loyal to fellow men…”
It also reminds me of how I’ve talked about China should be more active in the business of mercenary rather than that same old bullshit. You’ve probably seen those posts back then when I was still active on Fuckbook. Well, with this event, I think perhaps Beijing is up to something by not encouraging mercenary businesses of any scale larger than PSC.
I dunno man, I still don’t like the whole idea of parentalism, as it prevents one from developing into his/her full potential. Perhaps the whole idea needs to be executed right…for instance, Executive Outcome’s operations in Sierra Leone against RUF back in their civil war; and even Wagner’s earlier performance in Libya and many other African countries. The key is to keep them away and make them as impersonal as possible, so they can take care of the interest the government kinda want, but doesn’t want it that bad.

Modern armies were created because of the inherent problems in hiring mercenary companies and irregular troops in pre-modern armies. I do not mind private contractors that do a specific tasks or man specific weapons that would be too costly for the military to maintain but you can’t have a mercenary force doing the bulk of the fighting for you.
