The ending of slavery was an extraordinary act of humanity, which ended a system that was viewed as pretty normal and fair for millennia. We don’t have records on when slavery began but we have records on when it ended.

African countries asking for reparations is really rich because it was African kingdoms that sold slaves to the Europeans. Number of freed blacks in the Americas likewise owned and traded slaves.
