So, Timmy starts his discussion with saying “Vienna was a place where nations were created…” and it made me think of my concept of Austrian voodoo. Ideologies of the twentieth century that rose out of late Habsburg Austria. 🇦🇹 The late Austrian government for instance supported Ukrainian nationalism. Hitler was also active in Vienna at the time. The European Union is the brainchild of Calergi, an Austrian noble.

Belarus was more German project, but yeah Austrians started Ukros, Albania-uniting two differing group of peoples, grabbing bunch of Slovenes and Serbs under Croatian name, and they also failed in some things like Veneto nationality, Bosnian one etc.

Veneto came under control of the Italian Kingdom rather early. Manipulation of ethnic nationalism by the Austrian elite really is a late Habsburg turn of the century thing. Ukrainism isn’t an Austrian idea per se. It has Ukrainian origins but the Austrians gave it explicitly anti-Russian direction.
