Standalone Game Size Mods for Skyrim

I have been playing Skyrim and recording it after work…

More specifically I have been playing the Beyond Skyrim: Bruma mod. As the name suggests, the mod covers an area beyond the province of Skyrim, the county of Bruma in the province of Cyrodil south of Skyrim. You can watch the playlist of my play-through below. I managed ten episodes, and the series end with a nice view. 😆

Beyond Skyrim is an ambitious mod project that seeks to add to the existing game Skyrim, which takes place in the eponymous province of Skyrim, other areas of the continent, Tamriel. It will be like Skyrim times 4 if finished. So far they released only Bruma. They were promising to add a piece of High Rock in a mod called the Three Kingdoms, and a piece of Morrowind in a mod called the New North. But neither of these two saw the light of day. Hopefully, their release was abandoned in favor of larger areas to be published later.

Beyond Skyrim could extend the playability of Skyrim, a game published in 2011, for another decade or two. What is absolutely ridiculous is that in those 14 years, Skyrim has hardly been surpassed in its category. Skyrim is a game of many flaws, and the fact that nobody has produced a game that would rival it, and take away its player base does not speak well of the games industry. Recently published Avowed is inferior to Skyrim, and Witcher 3 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance, while good games are not comparable, albeit similar. They say Kingdom Come: Deliverence II actually sucks ass so that’s that.

Hopefully Beyond Skyrim doesn’t get abandoned but this year promises to deliver the Skyblivion, which is a remake of the Oblivion game from 2006 in Skyrim engine. This is not just a remaster but a hand crafted remake. They have reworked locations and game assets, which promises a new experience and visuals on the par or perhaps surpassing Skyrim itself. It is also a community project, and this promises attention to detail not seen in many big studio titles. Oblivion will also be remastered in the Unreal Engine. The latter is official and should be available on consoles. I personally think they should redo Skyrim in the Unreal Engine. That would be something… Also in the works is Skywind, which seeks to recreate Morrowind in the Skyrim engine. I intend to play all of them…
