Sovok Insults

Whenever the Russophobes were to insult your pro-Russian position, they would draw upon Soviet imagery…

I realized this by comparing the main memes used to insult Russians. Vatnik, tankie, comrade… Bitch I ain’t your comrade.

It reminds me of the Russian vloger, Goblin once remarking that every anti-Sovietist is a Russophobe because the anti-Sovietist treat Russia as guilty of all the alleged crimes. And certainly, the Russophobes like to evoke Sovok when they lob their insults on Russians.

But seriously, was the USSR all that bad? They industrialized, they defeated the Nazis, they flew to cosmos. So if you say that the USSR was bad and criminal, you have to dismiss and condemn all those achievements. You would have to say sorry to Banderites, Forest Brothers, Basmaches, and other similar faggots.

And the most ridiculous thing is that because the Soviet system failed economically, Russia at present is rather capitalist with a high social inequality and low tax rate, which is far from the Soviet ideal.

  1. I do wanna bring up two things: the anti-Sovietists who actually like Russia, and the elements of AnCap.

For the anti-Sovietists who like today’s Russia, there are two types: the neo-colonialists and the disgruntled souls. Neo-colonialists just like to feel superior. Those are the same type of folks who were bothered by China, but claim to love Taiwan/South Korea/Japan despite looking down on them deep down. Meanwhile, for the disgruntled souls, they’re just uneducated on the achievements from USSR and at the same time, they hate what US, Canada and EU have become over the past decade. They listen to outlets like RT and believe Russia has a solution to everything. Hence they hate Soviets for being commies but love Russia for speaking what they truly feel.

Then there’s the element of AnCap. Their problems? First, they actually believe the whole deal can work in practice outside of memes. Second, they actually believe they can never fail, but they will turn into a commie crybabies when they fuck up and on the ground. One reason why not to take the likes of Matt Mitchell (the one who called me an incel lol) too seriously. Basically, they just want to be assholes to anyone outside of their social circles and able to be free of any repercussion, on top of wanting leaders who actually act like leaders (the latter part actually makes slme sense though). Now, the third problem, is how the likes of RT caters to what they believe in (RT was probably just catching the wave of the right-wing surge from mid-2010s, and the right-wing surge is the direct response to the economic failure of Western world and the Tumblr crowds from early 2010s). It has surely improved Russia’s image across the world, at least for this crowds. But we all know how immature the AnCaps really are, and that’s why they came to believe Russia to be some sort of libertarian paradise. Most of them probably side with Milei by now. Some may be surprised as Milei has said some shit about both Russia and China, but I’m not.

I think the source of this problem is actually the exact same thing I praised Russia for and criticized China for back in the days. Unlike China, who’s enjoying a bipartisan hatred from Americans, Russia knows how to cater to what the certain crowds of Westerners want to hear, but it lost the ability to explain its own perspective clearly. Now, Russia ends up with a huge crowds of idiots who clearly misunderstood what Putin really wants. Not sure man, but I think this may lead to an even bigger tension between Russia and the Western AnCaps/libertarians/disgruntled souls, except I doubt they’ll try to bully Russians on a personal level.

  2. Btw, two weeks ago, there was a fella from my work named Sam. We were chatting about US-China-Russia relationship. He said US should actually form an alliance with China and Russia, and US/China/Russia alliance will be against EU and Taiwan/Korea/Japan (well, he did mention how North Korea is too “nutty” to contribute anything of values). He went on and say how US should stop babysit EU, and he doesn’t trust Taiwan, South Korea nor Japan and believe they may try to fuck US over once China is out, and how Japanese and Korean culture make no sense (I actually chuckled when I heard that. I didn’t bring up the historical part though… about MacArthur and all that). Just learn to draw boundaries, and work with Russia and China on what’s possible to work with and tell EU and Taiwan/South Korea/Japan to fuck off. That was his basic point. I actually appreciate Sam’s honesty though. Now I think about it, can US actually have someone like that in White House or at least Congress? It’ll save everyone a lot of sweats and honesty is always a good thing to have.

      1. There’s a saying I’ve heard: most Americans view China as a tough adversary, much like Russia, but won’t necessarily look down on China nor Chinese, except the cringe Chinese Americans. Meanwhile, they may actually look down on Korea and Japan, despite claiming these guys as allies.

      2. Murica propped up Japan during the Cold War, and made Japan into what it is, or rather was. But then Japan grew too big and Murica made them appreciate the Yen. The Japanese economy has been stagnant for decades, and I believe they cannot get out of this because of their servile relationship with the US.
